85 days. Capsicum annuum. Open Pollinated. NuMex Joe E Parker Pepper. The plant produces heavy yields of 6 to 8" long by 1 ½" wide glossy deep green Anaheim peppers. This popular hot pepper variety is prized for its greater uniformity, thicker fruit walls, higher yields (especially red-after-green), and better processing traits. Peppers are mildly hot and turn from green to red when mature. Great for roasting (skin peels cleanly), stuffing (chiles rellenos), grilling, canning whole, salsas, sauces, freezing, or drying into ristras or powder when red. The thick, meaty flesh holds up well to heat and processing. Flavor is rich and classic Southwestern chile. High in Vitamin C. The plant has green stems, green leaves, and white flowers. The plant has a strong single main stem and uniform branching that provides good foliage cover against sunscald and supports heavy yields. New Mexico State University’s chile breeding program developed it in 1990. It is named for Joe E. Parker of Las Cruces, a 1950 NMSU College of Agriculture graduate who helped evaluate the selection. Excellent choice for home gardens, Farmer’s Markets, market growers, greenhouse production, open field production, and commercial production. United States Department of Agriculture, PI 640778. A variety from the USA. Disease Resistant: TMV.
