The ears have 18 to 22 rows of tender kernels. It is ground for flour, grits, and cornmeal. Boone County White was once one of the most popular white corn varieties grown in the Southern Corn Belt. The plant is heavily leafed, which shades out unwanted weeds. It yields 70 to 90 bushels per acre. It was created in 1874 by Mr. James Riley of Boone County, Indiana.
