It is a popular spinach variety prized for its thick, glossy, dark-green, heavily crinkled leaves with rich, nutty, slightly sweet flavor. This is the finest spinach variety available. Bloomsdale Long Standing Spinach is a classic, slow-bolting heirloom variety maturing in 40 to 50 days. This variety thrives in cool weather and resists summer heat better than standard types. Introduced in the 19th century, it is still widely grown today. It is sweet and tender with a rich flavor. A very slow bolting variety. The name comes from Bloomsdale, the home and farm in Delaware of David Landreth, who developed the variety. Cold Tolerant. Heat Tolerant.
