The plant produces good yields of round, flattened gourds measuring 12" in diameter and 5" deep, light to medium green while growing; they cure to a hard tan shell. It is a popular gourd variety prized for its distinctive flat, round, saucer or cheese wheel-shaped fruits rather than the typical bottle or dipper forms. It resembles a wheel of cheese. Dried and used for making bowls, plaques, or trays. An excellent choice for home gardens. United States Department of Agriculture, NSL 117727. A variety from Peru.
