Fragaria vesca. Open Pollinated. Italian Alpine Strawberry. The compact plant produces excellent yields of miniature, deep red strawberries. It has a rich flavor and is more flavorful than other full size varieties. These Alpine strawberries don't have runners, so they are perfect for containers, window boxes, and patio gardening. Thomas Jefferson grew this variety at Monticello in 1789. Kids love them. It has a few runners, making it perfect for patio pots. Woodruff leaves can be used to make herbal tea. Suitable for containers, rock gardens, and edging plants. An excellent choice for home gardens. A heirloom variety from Italy.
