The squash is dark green and is straight to slightly curved. Its flesh is creamy white, tender, and very tasty. Best harvested when 5" to 7" long. It was originally bred at Burpee’s Fordhook Farm. It remains popular for home gardens due to its reliability, high yields, and excellent flavor. It freezes well, too. Also known as Fordhook Summer Squash. A favorite in the Southwest of the United States and Mexico. Heat Tolerant. An excellent choice for home gardens and market growers. United States Department of Agriculture, NSL 5225.
