The plant has huge vines. The flesh is thick and creamy white and is more delicious than a sweet potato. Great when fried in a skillet with onions, garlic, and a little salt. Perfect for making pies and custards. Excellent keeper stores well for 6 months. It was grown by Thomas Jefferson at Monticello, Virginia. An heirloom variety that was introduced in the 1780s from Jamaica via the slave trade. Also known as Tennessee Sweet Potato Pumpkin. An excellent choice for home gardens.
