1934 All-America Selections Winner! 90 days. Cichorium endivia. Open Pollinated. Batavian Full Heart Endive. It is a popular endive variety prized for its cool-season crop that tolerates light frost. The plant produces good yields of 10 to 12" tightly packed heads of dark green endive leaves. The inner leaves are very tasty and creamy, yellowish white. It can be eaten fresh as part of a green salad, sautéed, or chopped and added to soups and stews. Also makes an excellent garnish. Best as a spring or fall crop. Excellent choice for home gardens.
