45 days. Brassica rapa. Open Pollinated. Early Fall Rapini Broccoli Raab. This early-maturing plant produces good yields of large, dark green broccoli raab. It is a popular broccoli variety prized for its ability to thrive in cooler weather and suited for early fall planting (late summer sowing for fall harvest), but also works for spring/summer in many climates. It has a zesty, mustard-like flavor. The head averages 1 inch in diameter. Excellent for stir fry and salads. This variety prefers a cooler short-day season. It does best in 60 to 65 F weather. Suitable for spring, summer, and fall planting, but thrives when planted in the early fall. Excellent choice for home gardens. A variety from the USA.

Broccoli Planting Information:

Broccoli does best when temperatures remain between 40 F and 70 F during the growing period. Temperatures below 25 F can damage or kill broccoli. Spring planting should occur as soon as soil can be worked and after the last frost, and fall planting should be done 10 to 12 weeks before the first frost. In most areas, broccoli grows best if planted in late summer so it can mature during cool periods. Plants can grow 2 ft tall.

Soil Requirements:

Requires fertile soil in a well-drained location in the garden. Apply mulch, grass clippings, or straw around the base of the plant.

Water Requirements:

Keep well watered or the plant will have premature heading and flowering.

Fertilizer Requirements:

Use Slow Release (6 Month) Fertilizer when transplanting outdoors. Apply Miracle Gro Liquid Fertilizer periodically.

Harvest Tips:

When you begin to see the buds spread out, it is time to harvest. Cut heads with a sharp knife.
