Broccoli Rabb

42 days. Brassica rapa. Open Pollinated. Spring Rapini Broccoli Raab. This early maturing plant produces good yields of large dark green broccoli rabb. It has no central head but has side shoots. The leaves look like mustard leaves. Excellent for stir fry, fresh in salads, and boiled soups. Plant early in spring and harvest before hot weather, or late in fall. Excellent choice for home gardens. A variety from the USA.

Broccoli Planting Information:

Broccoli does best when temperatures remain between 40 F and 70 F during the growing period. Temperatures below 25 F can damage or kill broccoli. Spring planting should occur as soon as soil can be worked and after the last frost, and fall planting should be done 10 to 12 weeks before the first frost. In most areas, broccoli grows best if planted in late summer so it can mature during cool periods. Plants can grow 2 ft tall.

Soil Requirements:

Requires fertile soil in a well-drained location in the garden. Apply mulch, grass clippings, or straw around the base of the plant. 

Water Requirements:

Keep well watered or the plant will have premature heading and flowering.

Fertilizer Requirements:

Use Slow Release (6 Month) Fertilizer when transplanting outdoors. Apply Miracle Gro Liquid Fertilizer periodically.

Harvest Tips:

When you begin to see the buds spread out, it is time to harvest. Cut heads with a sharp knife.
