Elaeocarpus angustifolius. Open Pollinated. Indian Bead Tree. It is a large evergreen tree with creamy white flowers and bright blue or purple drupe fruit. It usually has buttress roots at the base of the trunk. They are widely used as prayer beads, particularly in Hinduism. Also known as Blue Marble Tree, Rudraksha Tree, and Utrasum Bean Tree. Planting Instructions:

Note: File or sand through the outer seed coat, or soak in sulfuric or nitric acid for 25 minutes and wash under cold water for 10-15 minutes. Minimum temperature of 75+ F.

Stratification Method: None required. Plant seeds directly in soil 1/4 deep, mulch the seed bed, keep moist and cover the seedbed with some shade.

Soil Facts: Requires well-prepared soil. Use general-purpose fertilizer when preparing the soil.
