Turnips are a Southern favorite and used in salads or cooked as a green. Plant seeds 4 to 6 weeks before last frost in spring, and 70 days before the first autumn frost for fall crop. Plant in August for fall harvest. Turnip Greens seeds are usually planted directly in the garden. Plants grow 6 - 12" tall.

Soil Requirements:

Requires rich fertile soil in a well drained location in the garden. Apply much and grass clippings, or straw around base of plant.

Water Requirements:

Keep soil consistently moist. Water well during dry and hot spells.

Fertilizer Requirements:

Use RootBlast, Vegetable Alive, and Slow Release Fertilizer when transplanting outdoors. Apply Miracle Gro periodically.

Harvest Tips:

You can cut leaves as needed. Dig roots while they 3" in diameter when they are young and tender.
