120 days. Cucurbita maxima. (F1) Porcelain Doll Pumpkin. The plant produces good yields of 10 to 25 lb pink pumpkins. Pumpkins start out pale yellow, then cream, then pink when fully mature. Multiple harvests are required because pumpkins develop and mature at different times as vines grow. For the best pink color, harvest when the cork has developed on a stem. An excellent choice for home gardens and Farmer’s Markets.

Disclaimer Note: Some environmental conditions and stress can cause a plant to produce non-pink pumpkins! Such conditions that may cause non-pink pumpkins are excessive heat, abnormal PH in soil, and too much fertilizing. Depending on conditions, the true pink color of pumpkins can range from 40% to 90% of the harvest. Non-pink pumpkins can exhibit blotchy coloration, ranging from blue grey to green, to salmon-orange color.

Choose the sunniest and largest area in your garden. Plant 5 to 7 seeds outdoors in hills. Planting should in early spring to mid-summer, 3 weeks after last frost and when soil has warmed up to at least 70 F. Plants grow 2 ft tall and vines spread up to 10 ft.

Soil Requirements:

Requires fertile slightly acid soil in a well drained location in the garden. Apply much and grass clippings, or straw around base of plant. Add well composted manure.

Water Requirements:

Keep soil consistently moist, but not waterlogged. Water well during dry and hot spells.

Fertilizer Requirements:

Use RootBlast, Vegetable Alive, and Slow Release Fertilizer when transplanting outdoors. Apply Miracle Gro every two weeks.

Harvest Tips:

Protect ripening pumpkins from damp ground by placing them on boards. Cut pumpkins carefully from plants to prevent damaging the vines.
