You can harvest Corn salad between December and April in the South, where it is used as a winter green. Corn Salad is a hardy plant, but it does not do well in very hot weather. You can have successive plantings throughout the year. In hot summer, plant in areas where shade is present in the afternoon. Corn Salad can survive cold weather, even freezing weather, so plant in August for a fall and winter harvest. Corn Salad seeds are usually planted directly in the garden. Sow anytime in early spring or autumn. Make successive plantings every 3 weeks for a continuous supply. Corn salad is a cold-weather plant that is hardy in 5°F and grows throughout the winter. Plants can grow 2 - 4" tall.

Water Requirements:

Keep the soil consistently moist. Water well during dry and hot spells.

Fertilizer Requirements:

Use Slow Release (6 Month) Fertilizer when transplanting outdoors. Apply Miracle-Gro Liquid Fertilizer periodically.

Harvest Tips:

You can cut leaves as you need them if you want the plant to produce more leaves, or you can cut the entire plant at ground level.
