Corn Salad (Mache) Seed
Planting Information:
Corn Salad originated in Europe where it grows wild. It is also known as
Lamb's Lettuce, Fetticus, and Mache. You can harvest Corn salad between
December and April in the South, where it is used as a winter green. Corn
Salad is a hardy plant, but it does not do well in very hot weather. You can
have successive plantings throughout the year. In hot summer, plant in areas
where shade is present in the afternoon. Corn Salad can survive cold weather,
even freezing weather, so plant in August for fall and winter harvest. Corn
Salad seeds are usually planted directly in the garden. Sow anytime in early
spring or autumn. Make successive plantings every 3 weeks for a continuous
supply. Corn salad is a cold weather plant that is hardy in 5 F and grown
throughout the winter. Plants can grow 2 - 4" tall. | |
