Carica papaya. Open Pollinated. The tree produces high yields of edible fruit. When ripe, papaya is enjoyed as a breakfast fruit. As a green fruit, islanders cook papaya in soups and stews. It is a good source of calcium, sugar, and vitamins A, and C. The trees can produce up to 100 fruits per year. Grows well in tropical regions. A variety from the USA.

Seeds Per Pound: 7,500

Soak Seeds for 24 hours. Allow seeds to soak in room temperature water for 24 hours. Remove any seeds that have floated to the top. Soak again for another 24 hours. Plant the seeds that have sunk to the bottom and discard the rest.

Planting Instructions: Plant seeds 1" deep in 4" pots using Miracle Gro Seed Starting Mix.

Temperature Requirement: 80 F to 85 F

Germination: 21 to 28 days.

Planting Seedlings Outdoors: Plant outdoors when seedlings reach 4-6 inches in height.

Outdoor Soil Preparation: Prepare soil outdoors. Loosen the soil and add general-purpose fertilizer.
